I’ve been a little busy lately and it is has kept me from my dirty little love – the garden. I kind of feel I need to say “hello my name is Sarah the Gardener and I haven’t gardened in two weeks.” The only real saving grace is, it is winter so there isn’t a lot to be done. Having said that, there are things that do need to be done – and in a timely fashion.
While it is a saving grace – the season is not only a blessing but part of the problem. When I do find time in my busy schedule the weather is wholly unsuited to getting stuck in boots and all, unless you want to catch a chill. Today it has been the absolute worst. As I have been working away inside, taking care of what needs to be done, the sun shines brightly and warmly. However as I come to a point where I have decided to take a break and head outside for just a bit of work – to feel like I’ve done something, the clouds open up and rain on my parade. So I move on to something else indoors and the sun comes back. It is like it has been playing peek-a-boo with me and it laughs brightly with its rays. But I don’t think it is funny and the clouds make me want to add to their raindrops with my tears of frustration!
I guess the upside is I’ve done a lot of my inside tasks now and so all I have to do is wait for a gap in the weather like a relay racer waiting for a baton and get out there and do what needs to be done quickly before it is once again time for the next bout of rain.
Then of course there is always the sanctuary of the greenhouse – even in winter it is a hive of activity. Check out my latest tour of the garden. I’d be lost without my greenhouse.
Come again soon – I will garden regardless of the weather, because I am actually going crazy.
