I have been liberated from my keyboard, which is just as well because I think I’ve worn it out. You can almost see straight through the spacebar to the workings underneath! But my super secret project has been delivered – all 50,000 words, and a few thousand extra for good measure and loads of great photos and now I can turn my attentions to my poor neglected garden.
I have longed for this day. It has snuck into my head while I was trying to think of other things and I wondered where I would start and what would I do. So it was with great excitement that I pulled on my gumboots and headed out for some uninterrupted and guilt free gardening time.
The place is so overgrown and neglected and not like how I would ordinarily keep my garden. It was hard to see clearly and looked quite overwhelming, so I cleared the wood from the trees – so to speak and mowed the grass. An out of control grassy area can make everything look terrible, yet by just running up and down with the mower, suddenly everything looks fresh and achievable.
As I charged up and down the rows, I noticed the beds I passed by and made mental notes about what each needed. I’ll probably forget it all by the end of the day as there is so much to take in and so much to do. I will need to do a priority list and slowly and steadily work my way through but for now it is all about clearing away the green clutter and getting ready for a fresh start in my garden.
Come again soon – this sort out is just getting started.
